Ep7 - Fini Scad
Monday Oct 01, 2018
Monday Oct 01, 2018
Creators of the anthemic song, Coppertone, Sydney band Fini Scad shined brightly, if only briefly, in the mid 1990's.
In this episode I talk with Fini Scad drummer Jono McPhee about his musical journey and the triumphs and pitfalls that go with being in a Rock n Roll band.
Signed to Mushroom Records, the Fini Scad story is a lesson on how the business side of things can quickly sour an emerging musical dream.
While the Fini Scad story doesn't finish with a fairytale ending, their musical legacy is a fantastic album Widerscreen and a heap of high energy songs that have stood the Rock n Roll test of time.

Ep5 - Billy Field
Monday Oct 01, 2018
Monday Oct 01, 2018
King Fox, a schoolboy psychedelic rock band (you don't hear that description very often), won a Sydney radio competition in 1970 and recorded a hit record, Unforgotten Dreams, before disappearing without a trace.
The bands bass guitarist, Billy Field, would later emerge in the early 80's as a piano playing, singer-songwriter, gaining No.1's and going on to be one of Australia's most successful solo artists of that time.
Fuzing Jazz and Pop, the distinctive vocals of Billy Field can be heard on two of the most memorable hits of the 1980's in chart toppers, Bad Habits and You Weren't In Love With Me.
Billy and his co-writer Tom Price, have had their music recorded by international superstars such as Mick Fleetwood and David Lee Roth.
The interview with Billy is thought provoking and despite his own down playing, Billys music will continue to find new generations of fans.

Ep4 - Col Joye & The Joy Boys - Part 2
Monday Oct 01, 2018
Monday Oct 01, 2018
This is Part 2 of the Col Joye and the Joy Boys episode.
To put it simply, Col Joye is Australian Music Royalty.
A leader of the Rock n Roll revolution in this country from the very start, Col Joye and the Joy Boys were at the forefront of spreading this new 'devils music' to the masses in the late 1950's.
Col Joye and the Joy Boys were the first Australian act to hit No.1 on the local charts and in all, they have released over 50 singles, 30 EP's and 40 albums.
An ARIA Hall of Famer and also awarded an Order of Australia, Col Joye has achieved plenty on the actual music side of things, with a string of No.1 hits and literally thousands of sold out shows, however, it is the business side of the industry that Col and his many family members of the Jacobsen clan have found amazing success.
As a promoter, manager and producer Col has helped create and encourage many stars in the making, including one of the worlds biggest selling acts, the Bee Gees.
A star of the hit parade and constant chart topper, Col was also the star of the iconic television show Bandstand.
